A settlement cut this to $225 million; the PUC approved $157 million with a 9.3% ROE, adding $5.00 (4.77%) to a typical 601 kWh home bill from Aug. 29, 2026. Parties filed rehearing requests in September 2026.

Utility's stated reasons

  • about $3.8 billion of net plant added since 2022, mostly grid and transmission
  • rising construction costs and interest rates
  • moving transmission rider costs into base rates

The PUC approved a unanimous settlement on Xcel's 2025-2027 Wildfire Mitigation Plan, which the company estimates at about $1.9 billion. Transmission costs go through an existing rider; other costs are deferred and recovered through a new Wildfire Mitigation Adjustment line item. The PUC said the bill impact would reach about $9 a month near the plan's end, then fall after securitization.

Utility's stated reasons

  • reducing wildfire ignition risk
  • undergrounding about 50 miles of power lines
  • rebuilding major transmission lines
  • expanded inspections and vegetation management
