At the governor's request, residential electric bills were cut 25% for usage from Feb. 1 to Mar. 31, 2026. About 15 points came from $180 million in state funds shared across utilities; Eversource defers the rest and recovers it gradually during lower-usage summer months. After initially proposing interest at the prime rate, Eversource agreed to waive carrying charges.
